Elk River 100 Route

Ride headquarters is now TOP Fitness Center in Tullahoma, which has clean restrooms and showers. The new start location will eliminate 4 crossings of the busy 4-lane in Tullahoma. There will be refreshments and food at the finish.

The 100 mile route is comprised of 2 loops. The first is a 68-mile (Metric Century) loop which heads south across the Elk River, along Woods Reservoir, to the Cumberland Plateau, ascending the difficult Alto climb. After passing through the scenic campus of the University of the South, the bikers descend to Cowan and return to TOPS Fitness in Tullahoma. This completes the 68-mile ride and the first part of the 100-mile ride. Riders going the 100-mile distance then follow the northern 32-mile route to the nearby town of Normandy, proceeding north over the Duck River and around the north side of Normandy Lake, returning to Tullahoma. The first loop is rolling, except for the steep climb up the Plateau south of Alto. The second, 32 mile loop is hilly, with climbs and descents into the Duck River valley. One can ride the first loop alone for a metric century. Continuing for 2007 are the 50 mile and 10 mile routes.
