4/1/08 - The AEDC Mtn Bike
Trail will be closed at times this spring during wildlife hunts. The
closure dates are April 25-27 and May 2-4.
9/29/07 - AEDC Mountain Bike
Trail Closure
From the AEDC Air Force:
Keep in mind that the trail is in a TWRA Wildlife Management Area on
property owned by our Air Force. As such, hunting season having already
begun precludes any form of Outdoor Recreation during scheduled AEDC big
game hunts. Remember, this rule is for everyone's own safety.
Please be sure to stay off the AEDC mountain biking trail during the dates
listed below, and try to let your bicycling friends know about this as well.
Signs closing the trail will be posted, but extra care in planning your
rides will make sure nobody is on the trail during hunts.
Thanks for your cooperation.

Highland Rimmers Serve
Community Children - On December 13, 2003, several members of the
Highland Rimmers Bicycle Club volunteered their time to assist Brian
Schaefer, manager of Woody’s Bicycle Shop, in restoring 21 bicycles to
be given to children associated with the Tullahoma Housing Authority. The
bicycles were acquired by the Tullahoma Police Department and would
typically have been sold at auction. However, Tony Patterson with the
Tullahoma Housing Authority thought that many of these bicycles could be
repaired and given to less fortunate children in the community. Tony
contacted Brian at Woody’s for help who then asked the Highland Rimmers
if they would volunteer their time to assist with repairing these children’s
bicycles. The Highland Rimmers graciously accepted the community service
project and felt as if this was a great opportunity to give back to the
community and promote their passion among children.
Fran and Dan Marcum generously donated the use of a room at the
Incubator in Tullahoma for the repair work and Woody’s supplied various
parts such as tubes, chains, brake cables and pads. From about 30 bicycles
from the police department, a group of 10 worked steadily for about five
hours on Saturday morning to sift through and repair 21 of the bicycles.
The Tullahoma Housing Authority will now take and distribute these bikes
for Christmas to the children who participate in their programs.
I would like to thank Tony Patterson and Brian Schaefer for organizing
this project and members of the bike club, Bob Crook, Brian Bacon, Denny
Elston, Stuart and Brian Coulter, Rick Orzino, Andy Nelius, and Ken
Gamache for volunteering their time and making this possible.

Obstacles - Tullahoma road cyclists have many road
hazards to contend with. It's really sad.

The Fall
Club Newsletter has been published and is available
here.
4/1/00 - Highway Cleanup - 13 club members hit the ditches along our adopted
section of Highway 130, and left them in good shape, ready for the slobs to go to work
again. We picked up 30 LARGE bags of primarily mood enhancing libations. They will weigh
600 pounds easily. Budweiser won the prize as the most popular container. The post pick up
reception at Daddy Billy's was everything you would expect.
Click on the thumbnail photos below for the full size version.
7/17/99 - The club held our annual social meeting
last night at Ruby Tuesday's. Several folks showed up, and we had losts of fun after
we finally got the beer orders straightened out with the confused staff. Major
points of discussion were the design and graphics of club jerseys we are considering
ordering and the appointment of Bob Crook to fill the touring captain post for the
next year since Doug Abel is leaving for his next post - in Korea. Doug - it's been
enjoyable riding with you and hope everything works out ok in Korea. Also, the club
dues were raised from $4 per year to $10.
6/13/99 - You are browsing the new home of the
Highland Rimmers Bicycle Club. These pages are on a hosting service that supports MS
Frontpage. Previously, the club website was on a small personal website offered by
the webmaster's ISP. After the move, site administration will be easier, and some
advanced features will be possible. Questions/comments should be sent to

It's Spring. Daylight Saving time is to start
again on April 4th, and that means our weekday rides will be offered again.

Ride Cancelled The annual fall colors ride,
scheduled for Nov 1( Sunday), has been canceled. There is another colorful ride,
hosted by Joe, on the preceding Saturday, 10/31/98.
More Century News - Another good century is hosted by the Spring City Cycle Club ( Huntsville). I
especially like the spaghetti dinner they serve after the ride. It seems like on so many
centuries, when you get done, everyone is busy loading up and heading out. I would
prefer to chat with old and new friends. The spaghetti dinner causes folks to linger
so you can talk awhile. The route is pretty, with a tough hill on the back loop.
Details are:
All You Care To Eat Century - September 20 Huntsville, AL. Tour the scenic

The Chattanooga Bike Club has announced their 2-for-1 Century, but there have been some changes to the
schedule of previous years. Now the first century, on Sat. Oct 3, will be the
Sequatchie Valley Century, and will have food and sag provided. On the following
day, they will host the North Georgia Century, and it will be unsupported. This
info from their August newsletter.
Century Time ! It's hot and muggy and it seems like summer has just gotten started,
but soon it will be century month. It's time to start scanning the magazines and
newsletters, to decide what century rides to attend. We are already busy planning our
century ride - the Elk River 100. Please consider
coming and joining us on Sept 12th.
Late Upcoming Racing News - August 8-9
is the Screaming Eagles Challenge. Its a three stage TBRA race. Flyers should have gone
out to all USCF riders in KY/TN. It should be a great ride. Its the first time Ft.
Campbell has been opened up to non-military for the purposes of cycling. Check out:
